Did You Know…?

  • You don’t have to be a Catholic to join the League.  Any woman who believes in our mission, shares our vision and desires our friendship is very welcome.
  • The League has been a part of the metropolitan community for over 100 years. It was founded on November 11, 1911!
  • In the first 2 years of its existence (November, 1911 to November, 1913) the League established a residence for downtown working women (St. Mary’s Hall), a settlement house for immigrants (The Margaret Barry House), and a home for fatherless infants and their mothers (St. Joseph’s Home).  This was before women could even vote!
  • The League is now learning and growing by networking with Ascension Parish, Ascension Place, and St. Anne’s Place, Visitation Monastary (northside) and John Paul II school in northeast Minneapolis.  The League began hosting women veterans at our downtown center beginning in October, 2011.
  • No time to volunteer?  League membership does not require a volunteer commitment.  Joining and paying our affordable dues ($50.00 a year in 2012) helps the LCW continue to fulfill the needs of women and families and keeps yourself up to date on what is going on at 207 S 9th Street.

  • Can’t join right now?  Your financial contribution to the League in any amount sustains our mission and is much appreciated.  Checks can be made out to the League of Catholic Women or just click the donate button now!
